Scott Beckey

President, Xystus Corporation

Scott Beckey is a foremost business strategist and solutionist. Whether directing the growth of large or small companies, Scott has consistently delivered tangible results, furthering his prowess as a premier business strategist.

As the current President of Xystus Corporation, a software development company, Scott continues to develop a precise execution strategy and clear understanding of the computer industry.

Prior to his role at Tangent, he was Vice President of Business Development at Aurora Biosciences Corporation, a biotech tools provider that under his leadership reached $2 billion in market capitalization. Scott’s work in the computer industry extends to Digital Equipment Corporation where he built computing solutions for the pharmaceutical, energy, and defense industries.

Scott holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania as well as dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science.

Jun Hosoki

Advisory Board

Jun Hosoki brings more than 25 years of expertise as a global marketing strategist to his role on the Advisory Board for Tangent Entertainment. With a well-known track record in guiding the successful launch of emerging technologies, Jun has implemented operational and business practices that are focused on securing Tangent Entertainment as the leading New Media Network.

Having consistently delivered measurable results throughout his career, Jun is utilizing his insight into the European, Asian and American marketplace to expand Tangent Entertainment within the global market. Jun is the founder of Wakuwaku Channel, Inc. an emerging media company that provides broadband distribution of ethnic content over the Internet for television consumption.

Jun excelled prior to Wakuwaku Channel, Inc. and Tangent Entertainment as an international business executive with a 25-year career at Sony. Instrumental in the development and marketing of wireless products as well as consumer video in the United States, Jun propelled Sony to a leading position in the world market with the launch of TR55 and Sony 8mm Camcorder as a Consumer Electronics-Marketing leader. While part of Sony Semiconductor, Jun elevated Nokia to a top five account in sales ranking for Sony.

As head of Marketing for Sony Mobile Phone Company Europe, Jun developed partnerships with such companies as Vodafone, Deutsche Telecom, France Telecom, Orange UK, SFR and Telecom Italia. With a brief stint as Vice President of Marketing for Sony Ericsson North America, Jun returned to Sony as General Manger at IT & Mobile Solutions Network Company in Tokyo.

Jennifer Beckey

San Diego Regional Vice President, WITI

Jennifer Beckey is an entrepreneurially-minded executive with a passion for building and operating companies. Her past business experience includes 20 years of management and business development in the high technology and professional services sectors. Jennifer is an active member of several foundations and organizations. She serves on the board of the WITI San Diego Leadership Council (2001-present), and chaired the Sharp Hospice 2006 and 2007 Annual Regatta organizing committee. She is a member of the San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum board and Executive Committee. She is a member of ALA (Association of Legal Administrators).

She is currently the Director of Administration for the law firm of Kirby Noonan Lance & Hoge, LLP, and also serves as Regional Vice President for WITI (Women in Technology International).

In January 2001, Jennifer founded the San Diego chapter of FWE, which became the WITI San Diego regional network in January 2005. She built the original chapter from its inception to a membership base of over 200 members, and remains active in its leadership to the present date.

Jennifer has a Bachelor of Arts from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. She studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris in 2001, and received her certificate, Chef du Patisserie du Bas, in August 2001. Her passion is sailing, and she and her husband competed in the 2005 Transpacific Yacht Race (sailing from Long Beach, CA to Honolulu, HI).

James E. Macdonald

Managing Partner, Torrey Hills Capital, Inc.

Jim is a Managing Partner of San Diego Torrey Hills Capital, Inc., an investment banking advisory firm in Del Mar, California. Jim represents and advises senior management, shareholders, and boards of directors in raising debt and equity capital, mergers and acquisitions, valuations, recapitalizations, and in transitioning private companies to the public markets.

Prior to joining Torrey Hills Capital, Jim was a Senior Financial Analyst with Baldwin & Clarke Corporate Finance, Inc., an investment banking and corporate financial advisory firm located in Boston, Massachusetts. At Baldwin & Clarke, Jim was responsible for performing financial analysis and market research to evaluate investment and merger and acquisition opportunities. Jim’s transactional experience is made up of companies in a variety of industries, including high technology, risk management, and foodservice distribution.

Jim holds a BS in English from Dartmouth College and a Masters of Business Administration from the Carroll Graduate School of Management at Boston College.
